My delivery date showed up yesterday and this morning it shows that it's in my city (which means it's at the ups center like 3 miles from my house). I just called UPS and I still have to wait till the 21st! WTF! That's inhumane! Water-board me why don't you!

I've never owned or had a lot of use on a touch screen before, but its definitely veery responsive and easy to use. I've only been on it foor about 15 min so I haven't delved deep into what it has to offer yet, but I like it.
As for cons... yes, no phone is perfect. So far, the charger gets in the way when using the keyboard. It's quite annoying. Also I have nooticed it's hard to place the curser if you want to edit text. I noticed this trying to make this post. Last thing I've noticed is that there are no is no dedicated key for tab. Ill have to look if there is a hot key for it in the instruction...
Those are my initial impressions, but I'm getting anxious to play with it more that that's all I'm gunna say for now.

use the trackball to easily move the cursor around when you need to edit text, works soo much better for me than the iphone.

My G1 is amazing--and not just because of the internals, but also because it defied all odds to get into my loving arms. This morning, UPS tracking showed it was sitting in Dallas (5hrs from where I live), and I called UPS customer service and they told me it would get here tomorrow. Then, only by the grace of God, the UPS driver shows up with my G1!

thats what it attempted to do was uuse tthe trackball but it just wasnt working for me... it kept trying to go out of tthe text box. i think i just need to be a little slower with it, i think its more sensitive than the one on my bb pearl

Mine was delivered today to the wrong address. I had called tmobile right after I ordered the phone last month and told them to ship it to a different address and they told me sorry the order is in we can't change it, call UPS when you see tracking information. I called UPS and they told me Tmobile had to change it. So long story short, it got delivered today to my old address and since nobody lives there went back to the shipping outlet. They said I can come pick it up tomorrow morning. Bastards! ( Lesson learned: make sure you have the correct billing address listed with Tmobile before you order anything)

Picked mine up at UPS a couple hours ago. Then had dinner @ Ruby Tuesdays. This phone couldn't come at a better time. my Wing has been being buggy all day long. It's currently charging.First impressions- light and much smaller than it appears in ads. Sleek. Texture is soft without being too rubbery. Case is cheap but will be just fine until I get some armor for it. I've ordered the zagg invisible shield for my PSP, and if I like it, I'll get it for G1.Headset is sleek and simple, will do just fine. Much better looking than the boxy headset that came with the Wing.

I received my new G1 at 3:46pm Oct 20, 2008 EDT. I placed my order on the first day ordering was available - Sept 23. I'm still exploring all the stuff on the phone and some of the downloaded apps. Really cool!

That's never been the case for me. This is my 6th new phone with T-Mobile in 8 years and they have never sent me a new SIM card. The only time I got a new SIM card was when I moved from Michigan to Illinois and changed my number so it would be local, then I had to get a new SIM because they're locked to regions or something. They couldn't just change the number, the SIM card had to be changed, too.
Other than that, though, I've had the same card. When I had my phone number changed they said they could not send me a new SIM because they do not have them, that the stores have the SIM cards. That's what I had to do, drop by a store and pick up my new card.

omg OMG, the g1 is at home. UPS finally delivered it at 5:45pm....
i got back from lunch and THEN got the confirmation that it was delivered to the house, so I drove over and picked up it. So far...i'm thoroughly impressed. Very comfortable to work with. Gonna fiddle tonight. I dropped by a few stores in the mall today to find a decent leather holster for the belt...and everyone was like "OMG! DUDE...YOU HAVE THE G1?!?!?!" Yah...I had to gloat. :P

I had the same problem and I called the customer service rep early in the morning, and she just did something with the settings on her end everything was good.

Mine rolled up about 1:30 this afternoon, and I spent the next hour getting nothing done but play with the phone!
Hooked right up to gmail, figured out how to pull down my SIM stored contacts, connected wifi, activated bluetooth...
Oh damn. There's a problem. I was able to activate and pair to my Plantronics 655, but it doesn't seem to work. Can't initiate or receive calls with it. Clues?
Otherwise, I'm starting to develop my wish list - like a GPS trace, exportable to .gpx, of course; a much better music player. Whatever you think about Apple, iTunes just works.
BTW, there's a peel ply shipping skin on the display. I'm going to leave it there until I order some additional ones.

If anyone else has the problem I did - can't connect to google servers - put in your OLD SIM, not the one sent with the kit.
Duh. But wow, this is a nice phone.
The T-Mobile people are HIDEOUSLY uninformed and RUDE. I am switching my service after the 90 day unlock period for that reason alone.

I did an end-run around T-Mobile and their stupid "you didn't order in time so you have to wait until Nov 10" and got one at the store! Haven't really had too much time to play with it, but I did get it set up!

I got mine yesterday and it's awesome and you can see that this phone has large potential.. Has anyone noticed that the specs of the phone are that of the touch pro.. Im coming from the diamond and I feel the only thing im losing is the touch sensitive keypad. Sure there are alot of complaints right now about the phone but its really all software. The phone is definitely capable we just have to work on it..The phone is awesome and is definitely gonna turn heads in the next few months. Has anyone noticed too that once you play with the device yourself for a while that a good majority of the reviews on the phone are false in some way? Maybe we should write our own personal review.. or maybe I can work on one rather than volunteering others:)

It was about my 5th number when I unknowingly at the time called a Costco nearby and they had the G1's in stock. I told them to put one on hold went there and got it the next day. $179.99 upgrade, total came out to be like $197 they had free activation too!
Been loving this phone ever since the moment it reached my hands.

I don't know... Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the black one. I was visiting a client last week, and I saw a bronze one and I liked it better. It's very subtle - not terribly different. But it has a slight metallic sparkle that I like. Oh well... I STILL LOVE THIS PHONE!
Now if only they'd fix this annoying data issue... :mad:

Yes it comes with the one gig and I know people run 16gb with no problem

I got mine at the end of November, I'm getting it at Christmas but the sales guy said I have to set it up or it won't be covered in the returns (? I doubt it) anyway seems good, but mine looks nicer than yours! Mine is black, and the keyboard is black not bronze, and behind the keyboard is glossy black. The call/end buttons are white, so it matches the others. I think that this looks better tbh (I'm british so we have a different build, and we don't have the squeaky screen, and ours launched black or white, where yours was bronze or black then white came along. I think the white one looks cheap, and the bronze looks weird.)

I just got mine about 7 hours ago. This is soo cool! The charger in the box doesn't fit the phone! I'll have to use the usb cable to charge it.
I notice that seido lists the same charger as the blackberry, the G1's connector is different from the BB.

Mine was delivered 1 day before the official launch date (I think I received it October 22). My girlfriend is waiting for the White one to become available before she picks hers up. We called T-Mobile but they said the white G1s won't be available until early this year.
UPS tracking says it was out on the truck for delivery at 4:26am today... ITS NIGHT TIME AND STILL NOT HERE. so *** that I have to wait another day... i woke up early as hell today like a little kid on christmas.
I got mine at the end of November, I'm getting it at Christmas but the sales guy said I have to set it up or it won't be covered in the returns (? I doubt it) anyway seems good, but mine looks nicer than yours! Mine is black, and the keyboard is black not bronze, and behind the keyboard is glossy black. The call/end buttons are white, so it matches the others. I think that this looks better tbh (I'm british so we have a different build, and we don't have the squeaky screen, and ours launched black or white, where yours was bronze or black then white came along. I think the white one looks cheap, and the bronze looks weird.)
is everyone from the UK a pretentious douche, or just most of them?

you better call them and make sure or if it was ups check your door see if they left it or a note half the time they don't even knock... trust me this time of year packages are stolen constantly...
