can anyone tell me if there is going to be a way to download a video recorder to the tmobile g1, since there isnt one on the phone as is??

As with the iPhone - I'm sure there will eventually be a video recorder for the G1. The hardware and software openness are NOT limited on the G1 as they are with the iPhone, so you won't have to "Jailbreak" or mod your G1 to get any added or underground functionality.
It's just a matter of time before a developer releases this.

Couldn't a firmware update take care of that? I think alot of these issues could easily be fixed with just an update. Like the orientation, or lack there of, when u turn the G1 on its side. Could they potentially add that feature with an over the air update, seeing as it has the necessary hardware already..?

That is if it isn't a hardware limitation. it's possible the camera isn't capable of taking pictures at 15+ FPS to have a semi-smooth video. I hope this is not the case, but it is a possibility.
