T-Mobile UK claims cupcake in April
T-Mobile UK claims cupcake is coming to the G1 in April:
This seems a bit too good to be true really. After the disappointment of the RC9 update why release this so close to it?
Wish Google or T-Mobile would confirm something officially as this is becoming a joke.
Anyone believing this or what?
Richie

As much as that would make sense...seeing as it would be in line with the HTC Magic....
I'm not going to believe it until I see it....
After all...a rumour is just a rumour until proven...

Here is the link to the Full Cupcake ROADMAP ::
But please be aware that this is a roadmap and not a delivery package...
only bits and pieces of this roadmap will trickle out of google over a long period of time ...
"cupcake" development branch ?(Android Open Source Project)?
The latest announcement only covers a few items ..
CUPCAKE Features OTA Maybe in April
NOTE !!
T-Mobile States Android Cupcake Update on the G1 in April | GAB
that it says is : " Cupcake Features" Not "Cupcake" which would imply the entire roadmap ...
some feature mentioned as posible were ...T-Mobile States Android Cupcake Update on the G1 in April | GAB
The features of this update would include:
Onscreen Keyboard
Video Recording
Voice Recorder
Stereo Bluetooth

It could well be true, T-Mobile may be doing this in direct response to Vodafone. Currently Android is considered a T-Mobile thing and they stand to lose a lot of ground to Vodafone if the Magic proves to be a better product. Vodafone will attack the G1 on it's weaknesses against the Magic, so if T-Mobile can update before the magic launch, Vodafone have no room to attack. This might just be an attempt to put Vodafone off running a campaign that directly attacks T-Mobile and the G1. O2 have already been running ads in the UK that attack the Android threat and have been very focused on the "App Store". The only thing that has shocked me is I would have expected a campaigned response from T-Mobile showing of just how good the G1 is, however don't be supprised if we see new T-Mobile G1 ads in April.
Updating us with "Cupcake" or at least some of it's most wanted features would be an ideal response to the threat from Vodafone.

Seems like Skodaphone are playing the coercion game, if TMobile take the bait it will be beneficial to us all.

I personnally will be very suprised... the cam processing is currently so slow that it seems impossible to imagine video ... but maybe the photo code was really slowed or crippled for some bizzare reason only known to google-wizards or HTC ...
If there are new hardware drivers that have been developed since the release then we all will cream our jeans

I hope we get it, would be pretty cool and would bring Androids features up to scratch a bit.

This logic falls apart when you consider the US market. Vodaphone doesn't exist here.

No but Vodafone do exist in the UK and the rest of Europe along side T Mobile so the theory does stand outside of the US as it is a worldwide thing not just a US thing.
Also seeing as T Mobile/Google have done things differently outside of the US then it's another valid point.
