  • You won't have to unroot - the OTA update will simply write over the stock files that are on your phone. You're right, you will probably lose root with an OTA update, but you won't brick your phone. You won't need to unroot the phone before applying the 2.2 update.

If you install the leaked antenna update and then apply the OTA update you could brick your phone.

Once the OTA update to 2.2 is released someone will make a ROM within a day or two. I recommend staying with a rooted 2.1 and using a custom 2.2 ROM after the OTA is released. That way you have root and 2.2.
Hi Jon, I have a question for you. I rooted my stock 2.1 Incredible which does NOT have the leaked OTA or radio or anything, its just a rooted stock 2.1 DINC. If I wanted to install the OTA when it is offically relased by Verizon and I mean install their OTA, would I have to unroot or anything? I know that if I install Verizon's I would lose root, I'm just wondering if it would brick my phone or anything like that. Can I install as is and just lose root or do I have to unroot, etc? I keep seeing conflicting answers and thought I'd ask you.

BTW your guide rocked, so easy to follow thanks!
