After T-Mobile announced data roll over for up to one year AT&T is also letting people roll over data, but only for one month.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

  • All levels of AT&T Mobile Share Value plan customers automatically receive the Rollover Data feature – no signing up, no additional cost.
  • Rollover Data can be shared with everyone on the same Mobile Share Value plan.
  • If you do not use your full allotment of plan data in a given month, the extra amount automatically rolls over and is available to be used within the next month.
  • Within a given month, you will use your plan allotment first, before you begin using your Rollover Data. Unused Rollover Data does not carry over.

This is marketing pure and simple. While it may help a few customers, it's really just going to slow down people jumping ship to T-Mobile.

Even T-Mobile isn't going to save people that much. Think about it ... this is only going to work for people who regularly don't hit their data limit. If they aren't regularly hitting their limits, then rollover data (just like rollover minutes used to be) won't change much. Fot the people who meet or exceed their data limits regularly, there's nothing left to rollover, so they still will be hitting caps and surcharges.

lunatic is right.. it is a BS bonus.

they way it is designed.. it means very little.

those that stay under the data.. will see extra data each month.
but does that really matter .. since they usually are under the cap anyways.

those that regularly hit the cap and get charged... still are getting charged.
if your monthly data is used up first ..
and rollover die that month... you might get 1 month of relief.

this plan helps user that only goes over:
2 or 3 times a year..
and only by a few GB.

it is a marketing BS... to make the general ATT user happy.
