HELP: Who makes the best least expensive tablet I can buy new or used that roots to Android?

I would like to know who makes the best least expensive tablet I can buy new or used that after rooting to Android makes for an awesome and super reliable Android tablet?

I realize I can buy a new Android whatever for many hundreds of dollars but I'm hoping to find something really inexpensive that after a few mods will be really good. For example, Groupon has a deal ending later today for a Koby Kyros 7" Android 2.3 tablet for only $112. Or maybe I'll buy a used tablet off of Craigslist and root it?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.
