Ironic that we're excited about a closed-garden tablet?

Don't you find it ironic that we're so excited about the Kindle Fire and it's a tablet with its own walled garden? Amazon's control of the ecosystem of the Kindle could be its success or its downfall.

Then again, many of us claimed Apple would fall with their closed system. They didn't. But maybe the market is only friendly to a single control-freak company and not several.

I think that the low $200 price tag for a tablet w/ specs like this, is 1 of the main reasons for excitement.

Exactly, it's the price point that has people excited. Like how there was a touchpad frenzy when the price dropped to $99 bucks. If the Kindle fire was $300-350, no one would buy it. But $200 is close enough to an impulse buy.
