I'd like to purchase a Android phone to use with a Square credit card reader. That and possibly playing MP3s would be the only use, and it would always be on wifi for the square reader. Is it possible to simply buy the phone and never purchase minutes? Will everything other than voice/data/text usage still work if I do that?

It would be just like a tablet computer then that runs only on wifi. I'm currently using an evo stirctly wifi only until my billing cycle is close to end so I can port my number over from my current company. I was actually watching youtube video's on it just a few minutes ago.

So answer: Yes, as long as you are in wifi. again, think ultra small tablet
