SD card strangeness

How come sometimes, randomly, it'll just give you a notification that you have an SD card inserted even though it's been in there for a long time?

Also it seems like it mostly happens after charging

Just ran my phone through it's weekly power off/wipe cache routine and the same type message showed up.
Could be a normal power up message.

Well I'm not talking about when I power on the device, I just mean after charging it

How old is your sd card and what brand name is it? Where did you buy the sd card?

It's not very old, it was on Christmas, it's Samsung

Tube517 may be on to something. Cards go bad, so you may want to back it up to a PC so you don't loose any important information that you have.

Just because it gives me a notification that it's inserted doesn't mean it's bad, it's not like it doesn't work

It could be that the card isn't inserted properly and is a little loose in the slot. If it moves, it could lose contact for a second and then give you the message as if you just put it back in.

That's why I asked the questions I asked. You shouldn't see that notification all the time.

I saw that notification and it was the first step that my sd card was going bad. I'm not saying yours is going bad but you never know.

Use the app SD Insight to check and make sure it's a legit SD card. Alot of counterfeits are sold even w/brand names on them.

I have some cards (Kingston and Sandisk) which my old phone recognized reliably but the new one won't. I tried several cards until the phone was happy with a new 32gb Sandisk card.
My laptop and desktop both see all the cards reliably and can read/write them without any problem. The new phone is a Huawei P8 Lite 2017.
