Help [solved] My Google Keyboard doesn't have the mic icon (for voice typing)

Hello, I have Android 6.0.1 on a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. I use Google Keyboard (from the Play Store) as my preferred software keyboard. The mic icon is usually located in the top-right corner of the keyboard, to the right of the suggested words. But I don't have the mic icon. Which means I can't do "voice typing".

(In this screenshot, the mic icon should be to the right of the word "thanks").


If anyone can help, I would appreciate it a lot.

Hi,
Go to settings scroll down to language&input tap on this.
Scroll down to " current keyboard" tap on here.
In coming pop-up tap on choose keyboard .
Next screen tap on Google voice typing.
Select the switch on.

I was trying to get help on IRC and I thought I had to resort to wiping/reformatting my phone. (And what a pain that would be, as my phone's SD card is set up for "Internal Storage").
