Help Storing files on SD card

Excuse my noobiness, but are photos and videos taken on the phone stored on the SD card by default?

I can't see any properties options to see where my files are stored...

Yes, they are. Download an app like Astro file manager from the market to help you manage your files and see where everything is.

If your looking for them on your computer, i believe the folder where pictures ore stores on your SD card is names DCIM, or something like that
