Yeah, I have the same problem. I updated the YouTube app from Google Play last night. When I opened it, a message displayed saying that I needed to install Google Play Services. When I tried to install it, I got the same error message as you.

I tried doing a factory reset and then attempted to install Google Play Services before I restored any apps, but no luck.

Just for reference, my version of Android is 4.0.3 and my tablet is an iDeaUSA YG A777.

I had the same issue and I found out that it was a mix of both Chainfire 3D and Pimp my ROM. I uninstalled it and it installed without a issue. I don't know if it the same reason for you, I bet 10-1 it is because of a tweaking program and 20-1 it has nothing to do with a custom rom unless it is very early alpha.

Unless it has something to do with the built in tweaks in the rom

here, I had to resign it to work with CTMod: com.google.android.gms-2.apk

just throw it in /system/app on your phone and reboot then you'll be good.

This worked for me. Thank you, Bloodawn!

As a side note, once you move com.google.android.gms-2.apk to the /system/app folder, you still need to install the package. Another way you can do this is install the package from any folder and then use Titanium Backup to convert the app to a system app.

Thanks, the problem came back for me and I was beating my head against the wall about it.

Why does it do that if you don't mind me asking? I read on a Google forum that it does that because there is a cracked app on the phone. I don't have any cracked apps on my phone. So what is up with it?

Now I can't log into Youtube. it says a error occurred. Before the error happened I was getting that error dealing with Google play services.

Here is the error before I did you what you said.

"Incompatible with other application(s) using the same shared user ID"

When I copied the version of Google play services you put up here it says "An Error Occurred"

something you guys can try is:

and of course make a backup in CWM before you do this

1) delete/uninstall that play services apk I linked before (com.google.android.gms-2.apk)
2) download and flash this: Goo.im Downloads - Downloading gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
3) after it flashes wipe dalvik cache and the cache partition
4) boot up and open the Play Store, it will have to auto update itself to the newest version
5) once thats done go to My Apps and update all the google apps

then try opening youtube, it will probably ask you to install play services again, do it and see if everything works now. if it doesn't it might take a factory wipe and require redoing steps 4 and 5.

edit: i just did all this on my marquee and it required the factory wipe to get everything working right, youtube is fully updated and working now.

Yeah, I'm getting that error, too. When I said that Bloodawn's method worked for me, I didn't bother to check if I can sign in. All I did was check to see if the app opened.

No luck. I tried doing steps 1-5, but I still wasn't able to install Google Play Services from Google Play. I then did a factory reset and repeated steps 4 and 5, but, again, no luck.

Worked for me, are you sure you had the old app deleted before you did the factory wipe?

Try flashing CT, after its done flashing go to advanced in cwm and do reboot recovery, flash gapps, boot up normally now and try everything out.

Yep, I'm sure. That was the first thing I did before going through the steps.

Unfortunately, ClockworkMod isn't compatible with my tablet (iDea USA YG A777). I actually had to flash gapps by booting into stock recovery.

So your not using a marque? If so that's why none of my steps worked for you.

Ah, I see what you're getting at. I didn't see that this specific thread was in the "LG Marquee > Marquee - All Things Root" category. I only came acrossed it through Google while looking for a solution to Google Play Services not installing. Oh well.

Thanks anyway for trying to help, Bloodawn.

When I ran the package as instructed I got "an error occurred" message when trying to sign into YouTube.

I looked for the gapps package but got an "error downloading" message when trying to download the indicated package.

Would appreciate any help......Thanks!

boot into CWM and do either a factory wipe or reflash your rom
after thats done go to advanced in CWM and select reboot recovery
flash this: Goo.im Downloads - Downloading gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
boot up and log into your google account, the Market will have to update itself to the Play Store I think
once thats done open it up and go to My Apps and update all the Google apps

now you can install YouTube/Google Play Services and everything should work fine.

I have a generic android box ( some thing similar to Mk808 ) which connect to tv via hdmi. It has Android 4.0.4 installed.
When I first time use Youtube, it says need to install Google Play services.
When I try to use Youtube it always crashes and sayd Apps has stopped.

If I start youtube from a browser, it works fine but not from youtube apps.

Any help to fix this?

Thanks.
