The company is prohibited by the authorities!

Yup, since 2012 most Google services are blocked by the govt. in China, unless using a VPN. Android devices here are quite Googleless, no Google Play Store etc. They all have things like Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, services and apps instead. There's no Android Pay, most payment transactions handled by Tencent and Alibaba, Ten Pay and Ali Pay. This is something to be aware of when hoping to buy a device cheap online from China, and we've had many posts about it. Like China Telecom version HTC phones, which just won't work on anything but China Telecom, as well as not having Google in them.

Although Google Ads, Admob and DoubleClick are not blocked in PRC, because that's $$$ for Alphabet, Inc. And a few services are accessible via Google.cn, like Maps and Translate.

On the other hand Microsoft's Bing and Outlook online services are not banned, and neither is Apple.
