I have a car. When it's no longer reliable I'll replace it. I've never bought one new in my life though - I guess someone has to but I've never seen the sense in it myself.
1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4 door sedan
350 Rocket with 500 CFM 2 bbl chokeless (DIY modification) carburetor and large modified single exhaust that exits in front of rear passenger's side tire (similar to NASCAR style)
~195,000 miles (rebuilt at 102,000- spun a bearing a day after a highway race with a fox body Mustang 5.0, won though, hahaha)
No. I haven't bought a new car since 1993. Even then, that one wasn't bought for me, but for my wife at the time. I don't buy new cars for two reasons: 1. I like paying cash for my cars. 2. I like luxury cars, and I wouldn't be able to afford the cars I like if I bought them new(at least not if paying cash).
I generally own at least 2 cars at a time. That way, it is easier to be proactive with maintenance.
I'm in the mood to upgrade my 14 Dodge Ram. It's nearing 1000K but is in great shape and has given me no grief. We replaced my wife's 04 Grand Am last summer with a 2020 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk so I'll just have to wait a while. One vehicle upgrade at a time is all I'm good for.
Oh, cars from the 90s are certainly good. But I'll tell you this. A friend of mine had a 1995 TrailBlazer. Very nice car. but when the transmission flew, he sweated. I wanted to repair something myself. He searched and read for a long time until he found this https://at-manuals.com/ manual. Then he seems to have repaired himself - and quickly sold the car.
