Email won't save attachments. Need a different email app?

My Moto E5 Plus did not come with an Email app, and I have charter email accounts, so I downloaded one program but it would not load charter, then I found another one (it just says "Email" with a blue envelope icon) and I loaded my charter accounts just fine, but the problem is I cannot save attachments to the phone. I sent myself JPGs that I wanted to save on the phone and even though I have a file reader AND Adobe Reader on the phone, it says there is no app to open the files. I don't want to open them, I want to save them. So is the problem with the phone or with the email program?

Thank you.... I logged into Acrobat Reader and the email seems to work better now
