I've never been much of a Guide writer, but I hope this helps some people with some of the things I found frustrating when I first got my tablet.

If you find any errors or feel I should add something to this let me know and I will edit it.

When I first got my Hero II in the mail I was surprised at the amount of apps in chinese. I thought that more would come in english since Ainol says they will set it to english for you. This is not the case. After doing much toying with my tablet I saw that there were many chinese apps I would never use that are embedded in as system apps. This mean you will not be able to remove them. At first I was pretty annoyed since they take up resources. Also once you get the updates many parts of the tablet default back to chinese.

I have found a solution the is semi-permanent. While it does not remove the apps it will prevent them from running and taking up precious resources.

1.) Remove all the Widgets you don't want on the screen. Keep in Mind if its in chinese it will most likely stay that way.

2.) Go to settings>Apps. on the right side you should see some of your apps slide your finger from right to left in that area where the apps are listed until you come to All Apps.

3.) Go through the list. You will find many apps in chinese you will not be able to use. I chose each one and Forced Stopped then Disabled. I will list all the apps I did this to. You don't want to do this to everything as it will cause you many issues. However after doing this with the apps I will list and rebooting I noticed it had a lot more ram, and ran smoother. Note that every app you tell to Disable will give you a message saying that this may cause problems, blaw blaw blaw. I haven't had any major issues with it after disabling these apps.

List of Disabled Apps:
Baidu Input for Android PAD
Baidu Search
CNTV
KingReader HD (This App contains Spyware)
KuwoMusic
PPTV
QQ
UC???HD (? = Chinese Character)
?????HD
??HD
?????OL
???? (Icon Looks like a shopping Cart)
????? (Icon looks like a camera and says Coolpai on it) There is another Camera app so don't worry)

After you have disabled all of these you will want to reboot. This will make a fairly clean boot.

4.) Install ES Task Manager from the Google play store. Once you run this app it will show you info on the remaining things going on. I don't recommend using any of the OPTIMIZE buttons. As this assumes your on a phone. the white area with the info in it is where you want to touch. Go to The area under Task Manager now. This will show you all the tasks still running. I went through and my hand chose the ones I wanted to still remain running. (i.e System UI and Facebook, and so forth.) Just long press Each one (again list at the end) and pick ignore. This will allow you to make a widget that will close all the apps automatically. Its handy if you feel it getting sluggish. speeds it right back up. And since this doesn't automatically close apps you will avoid many of the issues cause by task manager that do.

List of Ignored Apps:
Calendar (If you don't use it by all means let it be forced closed.)
ES Task Manager (This will only appear if you have the Widget running)
Google Account Manager
Google+ (Google's Facebook. I use it for video chat)
Juice Defender (An app I use to help with saving battery. Don't use free version)
KunoMusic (Seems you still get a few Chinese apps that won't go all the way away. Still less Ram when disabled. Just can't make it close all the way and closing it only takes resources to re-run the app)
QQ (Again less ram after disabled. And the same results if you force close.)
Swype Beta 1.4 (If you like swype on your phone is only a google away. Not available via the app store.)
System UI (Pretty sure this is important)
COM.android.smspush (Pretty sure this is something not to be closed.)

5.)Press Back and select Kill all button. This will ignore the apps you selected. The widget will also ignore the apps you selected.

That solved many performance issues I saw in the tablet initially. Heres a list of app I recommend and what they are.

ES File Explorer (Comes with it but get the updates Allows Many useful things like FTP, Samba, accessing the root files and MUCH more)

Juice Defender Ultimate (The free version will do nothing for you. But the paid version has many useful features that will help with battery savings. Not to mention it will automatically shut off the Wifi if you don't use it for a wile, and turn it back on when you need it. My wife would kill my battery all the time if I didn't have this)

Titanium Backup (I can't even begin to explain all the useful things this does. And if you ever change roms this is a life saver. Restores Apps and settings.)

Battery Calibration. (I noticed that even with the stock rom I wasn't getting the best battery life. I calibrated my battery and it is much better. To do this properly charge it to full with the unit powered all the way down. This will actually charge it to full. Which may not be happening in sleep mode. Then after you power on run the app and click calibrate. Unplug it use it till it shuts off by it self then charge it to full again with it off. That will complete the calibration. Now it will charge to full even if you leave it in sleep mode.

Vellamo (Benchmark that is IMHO the most accurate. And has a nice system specs feature. More important for the geek crowd.)

Fing (Awesome network utility for seeing what is going on your network.)

Wifi Analyzer (exactly what is says. Helps with finding where you dead spots are and seeing what other channels people around you are using to get the best reception. Helps since the Wifi isn't the best.)

KeePassDroid (great program if used in conjunction with your computer. via KeePass. This will allow you to enter usernames and passwords without typing them all the time. Saves much time and hassle.)

2X Client (Ever Just want to use you computer but can't get there. This is a true RDP Client that is compatible with Windows XP - Windows 8. RDP means it allows you to use your computer when your not in front of it via a nice interface.

Adobe Reader (If this isn't obvious to you just get it chances are you will want it sooner or later and not even know you needed it.

Winamp (Probably my favorite way to tap in to music. Hundreds of thousand of radio stations and people streaming music 24-7)

IHeart Radio (Great for finding and listening to local radio stations.)

Google Translate (Ever find yourself wishing you could translate to someone) This will allow you speak in your language and it will speak to the person in there language. Then listen to them and translate it back to english. Very helpful if you travel.)

Shazam (Ever want to know what that song your listening to in a bar/Car/Radio. Well this can listen to a song and tell you what it is. The paid for version will actually have live lyrics displayed.)

Scanner Radio (Lets you listen to Live Weather straight From NOAA as well as local Police/Fire/ect)

Goggles (point click and it will tell you what your looking at. Also works with bar codes and QR Codes. This is Googles QR Code reader)

Google Sky Map (A fun star gazing program point it at the sky as you move it will show you the constellations.)

Google+ (Its google's facebook but it also has a nice Video Chatting interface.)

AdAway (A basic firewall for you Android OS. Very handy if you have kids. It can block porn sites and adds that are not appropriate for children. Due to the nature of this program you will have to google it and install it manually. No longer available via Google play.)

That concludes my Guide. I know for most of you this won't be useful at all but I know there are a few people going how do I un-Chinese my tablet. If I help even 1 person with this I'm happy.

Again if you feel I have made any errors or that there should be additional content PM me and I will get it added/fixed.

thanks and comments welcome
