Help Odd files and Kies & Kindle

Samsung S3:

1. Have a bunch of folders on my SD card in phone all starting with u (you know the wierd looking symbol that looks like a u). Wont let me delete
2. Kies has suddenly popped up as necessary but wont install. Do I care
3. Where/how are Kindle Amazon files downloaded

That weird u symbol typically means your getting file corruption on your SD card. It could be failing. Sorry I don't know the answer to your other questions.
