I have owned this phone for over a week now and was starting to lose hope for a good root method.

Alas, cydia impactor root does the trick nice a quick on this phone.

Feel free to post any other important information regarding the ZTE Illustra Z788G(mine is NET10). I'm hoping to be able to post a good recover flash and image soon. Enjoy.
