The Onedrive app is the highest batt user on my s9+ its using like 10% or more every day and constantly running in the background, is it a bug with Oreo?
Do you have it set to update files on WiFi only or both WiFi and mobile data? I don't see that kind of drain from OneDrive, but have it set to update files on WiFi only.
can you restrict background usage for that app?
I'd remove the app and just access it from your browser instead
Disable the app. That is the only way to see if your issues remain

btw are you using an s9 or s9+ then?
Nope. An LG G6, but it doesn't seem to be a widely reported problem which makes me think that it's not necessarily an overarching problem with Oreo, S9's or the app, but something specific to your configuration.
However it's already synced the folder in question when the SD card was in my previous phone.
If it were a limit on the number of images, then it would have probably had the same issue with your old phone. I'm wondering if it might be an integrity issue with your SD card. Have you run a low level scan on the card to see if it's got some bad sectors? It could be simply getting stuck on a corrupt file.
